About Uptick

Our mission at Uptick is to make 100 million people safer where they live, work and play.

We’re a fast-growing B2B SaaS business providing fire and security businesses with an easy-to-use yet powerful suite of software tools to help them run and grow their businesses.

Backed by leading global growth equity company Accel-KKR, we’re now the category leader in Australia (where the business was started by our CEO & Founder) and operate in four countries. We launched in the UK in 2021 and most recently in the US last year.

The Role

With our rapid growth, we’re looking for a People & Culture Generalist to help build and shape the employee experience as we scale across the US. You’ll be the first People hire on the ground in the US, working closely with our Growth and Customer leads and our UK-based Head of People.

This is a hands-on, people-first role. You’ll be trusted to take ownership—whether that’s welcoming new team members, planning engaging in-person moments, or making sure we’re meeting local employment standards. We’re rapidly building a team and people function from scratch, so it won’t always be easy, but if you love variety, care deeply about people, and want to help create something lasting, this could be the place for you.

We’re still in our early stages, so we’re looking for someone comfortable spending more time in the office to help bring our team together and create those everyday connections that matter. As our US team grows, the ideal candidate will develop into a senior People and Culture role, giving you scope to influence the international P&C strategy.

In your first 6 months, your objectives are

  • Build trusted relationships with US team leads and the Head of People to understand team dynamics and priorities
  • Audit and improve the US onboarding process, and implement updates with new hires
  • Collaborate on and publish core People policies, and centralize resources for easy team access
  • Use data and feedback to assess onboarding and share insights that shape future improvements
  • Plan and deliver an in-person team event, gathering feedback to inform future engagement efforts

What you’ll need to do

  • Act as the go-to People & Culture person in the US, especially for our Denver -based team, such as advise on day-to-day employee matters, supporting fair and people-centred approaches in line with employment law
  • Lead and improve onboarding and offboarding experiences to help people feel welcomed, respected, and set up for success
  • Design and deliver in-person and virtual events that bring our values to life and strengthen our culture
  • Partner with our Growth and Customer leads to understand team needs and create solutions that help them thrive
  • Collaborate across time zones with our UK-based People & Culture team to build and refine People processes that scale as we grow—feedback, performance, engagement, and beyond

What you’ll need to bring

We’re a team in growth mode—expanding our presence across the US with a clear sense of purpose and a strong set of values. We believe in care—for our people, our customers, and our work. We aim for excellence, not perfection—delivering high-quality results while learning from the things that don’t go as planned. And we’re committed to growth—as individuals, as a team, and as a business.

  • You are proactive and have a people-focused mindset—you’re known for listening well and getting things done
  • You are adaptable and have a solutions-oriented approach—you’re comfortable with change and take ownership when things need doing
  • You have the willingness to spend regular time in our Denver office to support in-person collaboration and help build culture on the ground

Experience required

  • Experience as a business partner in a standalone or fast-paced environment, ideally in tech, but not necessary
  • Working knowledge of local employment law and US HR practices
  • Experience building connections across hybrid or distributed teams, and a passion for bringing people together
  • A desire to use data to provide insights that influence the employee experience
  • A bonus if you have experience with HiBob core and talent modules or any complex HRIS system
