ABOUT THE ROLE

We're not adding AI to an existing product — we're building a mentoring experience that's AI-native from the ground up. This role sits at the intersection of engineering and product. You'll own the front-end of our new AI-native mentoring app: the conversations, the smart recommendations, the guided journeys that help people grow.

You'll work directly with LLM APIs and wire AI interactions into product interfaces that feel warm, trustworthy, and beautifully simple. Working directly with the Cofounder & CEO, you'll collaborate closely with the engineering team and have a real say in what gets built.

You won't be waiting for a back-end team to hand you an API endpoint. You'll wire LLM calls, streaming responses, and AI interactions directly into the product — owning the full experience from the model's output to what the user sees and does next. The best mentoring moments will come from features you design and ship.

YOU ARE

• A strong front-end engineer with a product instinct: you think in user journeys, not just components.
• Hands-on with LLM APIs and comfortable wiring AI directly into product — streaming, tool use, structured outputs.
• Born to experiment. You'd rather test an idea with a rough prototype than debate it in a doc.
• A self-starter who takes ownership. To be a success in this role you’ll combine the commercial and the creative, you'll take the role by the horns and make it your own.
• Comfortable with ambiguity. You can scope and execute without a fully-written spec.
• An excellent communicator and collaborator: with engineering, product, customer success, and customers alike.

YOU HAVE

• 5+ years of full-stack engineering experience, with strong Node.js and React skills: you've shipped polished, production-grade work.
• Hands-on experience integrating LLM APIs (Anthropic, OpenAI, or similar) directly into product experiences.
• A track record of taking features from idea to production — you know what "done" looks like.
• Solid fundamentals: source control, CI/CD, working in an Agile team.
• Excellent communication skills. You can articulate technical decisions to non-technical stakeholders.
• The capacity to work autonomously without being afraid to ask for help when you need it.

Build Conversational AI Experiences

• Design and ship an AI co-coordinator — a conversational assistant that helps mentors and mentees make life-changing human connections
• Build AI-assisted meeting prep, agenda generation, and session summaries that feel genuinely helpful
• Make AI interactions feel natural, warm, and trustworthy — not robotic

Shape the Mentoring Journey

• Build AI-powered onboarding flows that adapt to each user's goals and context
• Ship proactive, well-timed nudges that keep mentoring relationships on track
• Own the end-to-end mentor and mentee in-app experience

Build, Measure, Learn

• Run product experiments: A/B tests, prompt variants, UX iterations
• Instrument AI features with feedback mechanisms and quality signals
• Co-create the product roadmap — your input shapes what gets built next

Work Across our Full Tech Stack

• Experience building chat interfaces or streaming UI (SSE, WebSockets)
• Some backend chops — you can write a Node route or MongoDB query when you need to
• Familiarity with agentic workflows, tool-use patterns, or prompt engineering
• An eye for design — you care how things look, not just how they work, and can thrive within our existing design system
• A genuine interest in human development, coaching, or mentoring
