At Komodo, we're excited about our mission and proud to be a part of it! We collaborate with inspiring schools around the world to foster a wellbeing-first approach, ensuring that every school becomes a nurturing environment where everyone can thrive. Our passion lies in helping schools adopt the best practices for mental health and wellbeing, supporting everyone on their journey to unlock their true potential, and providing parents with the peace of mind they truly deserve.
Through our software and comprehensive services, we offer valuable insights into the heart of schools, empowering staff to take proactive measures and make informed decisions about student wellbeing. We assist schools in evaluating the impact of their wellbeing initiatives, identifying crucial wellbeing challenges, and ensuring every student and staff member feels heard when they need support the most. Everything we do—whether it's the code we develop, the customer support we offer, or the psychology woven into our product—contributes to preventing bullying, recognising students who need academic help, and creating a safer, happier environment for all. This is what inspires us every day.
Role Purpose
This role focuses on generating new business opportunities for the company by identifying, contacting, and qualifying potential customers. You will focus on everything from lead generation to lead qualification at an exceptional standard at the beginning of our sales pipeline. In this role, you will have clear goals around the number of qualified leads to be generated, and the quality of those leads confirmed.
This position involves a global customer base, so you may need to work outside of typical hours, including calls as early as 6 AM or as late as 7 PM. We embrace flexible hours to accommodate everyone's role requirements. For instance, if you begin your day at 6 AM, you can finish by 1 PM. If you have later calls, you can start later the following day or leave earlier on another day—it's all about managing your hours throughout the week!

Role Overview
- Identify potential customers and generate new business opportunities for the company
- You are the first person our potential customers will meet (virtually - Zoom, email, phone call, Google Meet etc), so understanding the product, its value, and schools is crucial
- Contact and qualify potential customers and move them along the sales pipeline appropriately
- Set appointments in our Account Executive team's schedule and hand over qualified leads with a full brief
- Utilise a qualification framework to ensure the correct leads are progressing to the sales team
- Track your key targets and goals, and report to the sales team regularly
- Collaborate with the sales team to develop strategies for reaching sales targets and redefine sales procedures (how to qualify etc)
- Use Hubspot (our chosen CRM system) effectively to help push clients along
- Stay up-to-date on school cycles and understand how that impacts our sales cycle
About You
- Tenacious attitude to just keep going no matter what
- Rigorous ability to question people back (aka qualify extremely well)
- Memorable personality to create a very good first impression
- An organised approach to your work day to ensure key tasks are completed, recorded in Hubspot, and goals for the week are kept at the forefront of your mind
- Be able to come into Komodo and contribute directly to improving our qualification process
- You are a ‘culture add' to our team and add another layer of positivity
- 2+ years of experience in a similar role
- Experience with Hubspot is preferred (but any experience in a CRM system is beneficial)
- Exceptionable verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to naturally build and maintain relationships with potential clients and team members (provide a customised outreach solution to different clients)
- Have bags of resilience and be able to overcome objections quickly! Sales is not for the faint of heart and can be tough, so we need you to be tougher to work in this area of our business (we provide a dog-friendly office if that helps?)
- A strong foundational knowledge of sales techniques and strategies
- Problem-solving is key given the nature of the role (helping schools as the first port of call)
- Self-awareness and high EQ are important to help navigate the qualifying stage with a potential client and to read the room
- Time management and organisational skills that put personal diaries to shame
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team (this is crucial; you must be able to manage your own time like a boss whilst working within a team environment)
- Flexibility and adaptability to change (we are a startup, things change - quick!)
- A passion for working in the sales environment - we want you to love what you do (or working for us at Komodo might help this along if not already!).
- The base salary is between NZ$55k- $60k DOE
- Uncapped Commission (work hard and be rewarded every month!)
- ESOP (own a part of the company you are contributing too!)
- Phone allowance (too help smash all those outreach targets)
Reasons to join Komodo:
