Solutions Engineer (UK)

Kanopi

Kanopi

United Kingdom
Posted on Sep 9, 2025

We’re looking for a Solutions Engineer to join Kanopi as our very first UK hire. This is a rare chance to take ownership from day one — working directly with customers across the UK and Europe, building and configuring technical implementations, and driving projects forward with real autonomy. You’ll thrive in this role if you’re proactive, adaptable, and excited by the opportunity to shape how we deliver for customers in a new market.

The role

This is a varied position, involving a mix of customer interaction, project coordination, problem solving, and coding. Because the role begins as the sole position in the UK, the ability to work autonomously, manage priorities effectively, and proactively communicate across time zones will be essential. Close collaboration with Sales, Product, and Engineering teams will ensure successful outcomes.

As our first UK hire, you will initially operate independently, working closely with colleagues in Australia and the Netherlands through asynchronous updates and regular virtual meetings. Over time, you will help lay the foundation for our UK team, contributing to its growth and shaping how we expand in this region. This is a unique and exciting opportunity for the right person to take ownership, make a visible impact, and play a pivotal role in establishing Kanopi’s presence in the UK.

Location & Travel

This role can be based anywhere in England, offering flexibility around location. However, travel to customer sites across the UK and Europe will be required from time to time in order to support onboarding, implementations, and client workshops. In the medium term, we anticipate launching a physical office in England, and this role is expected to transition to a hybrid arrangement with approximately three days per week spent in the office.

What you get to do every day

  • Lead the technical implementation and coordination of customer launches, ensuring smooth delivery from onboarding to rollout.

  • Run workshops to capture and validate requirements, translate business logic into platform configuration, and manage client expectations.

  • Build, test, and deploy solutions using React, Typescript, and Python, and design integrations with customer systems via GraphQL and REST APIs.

  • Configure workflows, business rules, document templates, and data models to tailor the platform for each customer.

  • Attend on-site sessions with customers across the UK and Europe as needed.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues quickly, making confident decisions to keep projects moving with minimal disruption.

  • Collaborate with Sales, Product, and Engineering to deliver customer-driven outcomes, share insights, and shape best practices.

  • Operate independently in the UK while proactively coordinating with colleagues in Australia and the Netherlands to ensure seamless handovers across time zones.

  • Contribute to the future growth of Kanopi’s UK team by feeding back operational and technical learnings to inform hiring and processes.

What you will bring to the role

Experience

  • 3+ years of experience as a Solutions Engineer or similar.

  • Proven ability to deliver working solutions in production environments.

  • Experience delivering SaaS or configurable software to end clients.

  • Experience thriving in independent or remote roles where direct support is limited.

  • Demonstrated ability to take ownership of projects from initiation to completion with minimal supervision.

  • Experience managing or coordinating customer-facing projects essential.

  • SaaS, B2B or insurtech background preferred.

Skills

  • Proficiency in Python and/or Typescript and React.

  • Technical foundation in coding, SQL and data modelling.

  • Strong self-management and time-zone awareness, with the ability to coordinate across distributed teams.

  • Comfortable making decisions in ambiguous situations and escalating only when necessary.

  • Ability to translate business logic into platform configuration.

  • Hands-on experience writing business requirements, process maps and technical specifications.

  • Strong organisational and project coordination skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.

  • Confident communicator with proven stakeholder management skills.

  • Familiarity with AWS, CI/CD pipelines and automated testing.

  • Ability to produce clear, maintainable technical documentation.

Knowledge

  • Proven ability to apply core software engineering concepts including data structures, testing and design patterns to solve complex implementation challenges.

  • Understanding of solution architecture principles (scalability, maintainability, security).

  • Awareness of regulatory/security challenges in finance or insurance (preferred)

Attitude

  • Entrepreneurial and “founder-like” mindset, with the confidence to operate solo in a new market while building long-term structures for growth.

  • Resilient, resourceful, and solutions-focused when facing challenges without immediate in-person support.

  • Comfortable with both strategic thinking and hands-on execution.

  • A customer-centric mindset with a passion for solving real-world problems.

  • Proactive and self-motivated, eager to take ownership of technical implementations and grow into broader responsibilities over time.

  • Collaborative team player with excellent communication skills.

  • Commitment to continuous learning and staying current with industry trends.

If you’re excited about this role but aren’t sure if you tick all our boxes, please send in your application anyway. We know from research that women and other people from underrepresented, minority, or marginalised backgrounds often only apply if they think they meet all the criteria, but please don’t let that stop you from applying. We’d really love to hear from you and to see what unique skills and experience you’d bring to the role, even if it is not everything we have listed above.
