The Role
Hullbot is looking for an Electronics Technician who wants to work in a dynamic startup pushing the boundaries of ocean innovation.
You will work hands-on with our robots with a focus on our advanced electronics stack. Your experience maintaining electro-mechanical systems will give you the ability to swiftly return an entire robot to full health.
Your passion for quality, process, troubleshooting and repair will accelerate the work of our entire team as we expand the service delivery of our environmentally impactful technology around the globe.
What You’ll Do
- Advanced Micro-Soldering: Perform high-precision soldering and desoldering on PCBAs, focusing on microscopic surface-mount components (SMD) and high-density connectors.
- PCBA Troubleshooting: Use circuit schematics and board layouts to identify, investigate, and resolve complex hardware faults at the component level.
- Testing and measurement: Operate professional diagnostic tools, including digital multimeters, electronic loads, PSUs and oscilloscopes to verify the performance of PCBAs.
- Technical Repair: Conduct delicate rework under a microscope to ensure all board-level repairs meet high reliability standards.
- Precision Crimping and Stripping: Expertly use hand tools for crimping, stripping, and pinning various types of connectors and terminals.
- Failure Analysis: Document investigation findings clearly to help the engineering team understand root causes and improve future designs.
What We’re Looking For
- Micro-Soldering Expertise: Proven experience in fine-pitch soldering and the use of hot-air rework stations.
- Schematic Literacy: The ability to interpret complex electrical schematics and navigate PCB design files (layouts).
- Diagnostic Skills: Proficiency in using standard laboratory equipment to test and troubleshoot PCBAs.
- Attention to Detail: A commitment to high-quality workmanship and strict adherence to ESD safety protocols.

Bonus Experience
- Experience working with electric motors, robots, and motion control systems.
- A background in building or repairing electronics for marine or rugged outdoor conditions.
- A strong understanding of the physical assembly and disassembly of complex electromechanical devices.
